Chris is an outstanding musician who has so much to offer his students. My son studied with him, learning both classical violin and beginner bluegrass fiddle. Chris was very patient and packed a lot into every 30 minute session. It is amazing that we can get lessons with a professional, touring musician of his caliber, this far from from DC.

Chris was a fantastic teacher. I had violin lessons with him for about a year. I originally began lessons with him when I needed to audition for a local community orchestra. He helped me prepare and polish up a piece and I got in the orchestra! I continued lessons with him because he clearly knew about the violin inside and out and he was as good (or better than) my violin professor in college. I like how he pays close attention to how you play, and then he will help adjust your techniques in holding the instrument, holding the bow, and in style and musicianship. I mostly worked with him on improving my classical violin style, but I know he is a very talented teacher for bluegrass fiddle. Christopher Sexton is a very talented musician, I will never say anything against his talent. What I do take issue with is his commitment to his students. He cancelled 2/4 of our lessons in the first month due to band scheduling.The last time was because he needed to rest and do stuff around the house. I was very brief in my cancellation email, and he took huge offense to my audacity to say that teaching was not his priority. So yes, he is a very talented musician that has tons of music affiliations and will be sure to tell you that his band is inducted into a hall of fame, but if your child's lesson falls on a day his band is touring be prepared to be put on the back burner. He does make up those lessons that he cancels on you but my problem was in the consistency. I would have loved to h
