Amazing pianos (I love their Steinway concert grand piano), the recitals are great, lessons feel more custom-tailored to each student, and the whole place has a cozy-vibe. Literally the best piano school in the DC area, no questions. I take both piano lessons with Mrs. Sterling and vocal lessons with Hansel, and I love them both! They even offer recording sessions and workshops.

Gretchen Sterling is an excellent piano teacher and a very talented pianist. She is highly educated in music with a master's degree in piano performance from the London College of Music. I love the way she plays piano. Once I went to see her perform years ago with my son, we decided right away that my son would be her student. Since then, Gretchen has taught my son, 13, for over four years and my 9-year-old daughter for two years. They love their weekly lessons with her because she understands their different and unique ways of learning. She adapts lessons according to each student's pace and challenges and makes learning fun. Gretchen Sterling is an excellent piano teacher. I started lessons with her, as an (older) adult beginner, two and a half years ago. With her guidance I've made good and steady progress. Gretchen is friendly, focused and supportive of your piano goals. She has a sharp ear for the music and a keen eye for finger-hand-wrist-arm techniques. She has a comprehensive knowledge of the repertoire, from Baroque to Classical, Romantic, Modern, Jazz, Popular, etc. She knows and teaches music theory and history. Her own playing is masterful. Her studio is pleasant, filled with light, and has a wonderful Steinway Grand. I highly recommend Ms. Sterling; glad I found her as my piano teacher.
