From our first conversation, I could tell Alexys was careful with how to trains the voice, and his passion for singing and teaching were undeniable. I knew he was the coach for me. I started working with Alexys to learn proper technique, but he has shown me how the voice can expand like a muscle, and I’m pleasantly surprised with what we’re able to achieve during our sessions. Took one session with Alexys in 2019 and felt so bizarre being there that I still remember it to this day. I was researching vocal coaches as I have never been a great singer but had always loved to sing and thought it would be a good time to try to step out of my comfort zone. I saw that Alexys offered free first time sessions and immediately thought it sounded great based on the good reviews. I walked into his place, and immediately did not feel welcome. I did the vocal exercises with him but it just felt like such a judgy environment that I was never relaxed or comfortable. I am not doubting Alexys talents as I’m sure he is a wonderful coach and likely an even better singer but the way I was treated did not sit well with me, even all of these years later. I love to sing and so much detail goes behind figuring out the true sound of your voice. Alexys has patiently guided me to understand the technique and connection between vocal cords and my mindset as a singer. He educated me on the importance of SLS (Speech Level Singing) that through this technique it helps to preserve the vocal cords and create an overall strong toned voice. In the past, I would force myself to reach a certain note or sound a particular way that would later strain my voice. Within 2 years of lessons, I started to notice the technique trained my vocal cords to connect the notes of a song more fluidly.
