Jay is an outstanding teacher. I have been a student for 2 years. Jay's philosophy is to play musical styles you enjoy, which makes learning fun. He finds arrangements that teach you a new skill or two at a time, and sometimes he writes his own arrangements for students. Jay is a very patient teacher as well. I have struggled with barre chords and some stretch finger positions, and each lesson Jay will help me through those sections and give me practice tips or alternatives that might be easier on my guitar or with my hands. The studio is a separate building on his property so lessons are private (not in his home space) - great when I don't want anyone else to hear my struggles :). I am really happy with my lessons with Jay and feel I've progressed quite far with his support.

He worked with me to improve the skills I had. He is very receptive to questions and worked with the music I wanted to play. As a composer he willingly annotated my tabs with fingering suggestions and often rewrote sections to make it easier for me to play. Two years later I am playing music which I never thought I could. I will never be
