I started seeing Lindsey about 8 months ago when I decided I wanted to intelligently improve my singing voice. I was terrified at first, having never sang in front of other people, as most people usually are. Eight months later, I can functionally play guitar, am confident singing in front of others, and have begun writing my own songs. We worked bi-weekly, following a balance of my curiosities, interests, and song choices, alongside her structured lessons on vocals, skill development and music theory. She also hosts a student gathering every month or so, where we all get together to practice performing in a supportive environment, and I found it was essential to my growth. After well over 10 years of pursuing music production as a hobby – from minoring in audio engineering in undergrad, to taking taught and self-taught piano and guitar lessons, being an active member of the Audio Engineering Society, entering remix competitions, and creating hundreds of my own instrumental songs – I decided I wanted to learn to sing and write lyrics to my songs.
