I have been taking vocal lessons with Rachel Cobb from middle school till up until recently when I began college and started my vocal journey there. Rachel offers a warm studio where singers of all types can learn how to best use their own personal voice. One of the big things I appreciate from Rachel is the care for vocal health she has installed in me. She has taught me to use my voice well but also to sing with care and concern. She taught me how to treat my voice as the priceless instrument it is and even more than my vocal skills, I thank her for that. If you are looking for a teacher who genuinely loves and cares for you Rachel is an amazing one to have.

Someone standing outside of Rachel’s studio and listening to a voice lesson would hear not only singing but also laughter, lots of it! Rachel brings her effervescence to each lesson, encouraging me with a mix of humor and seriousness that always puts me at ease. Rachel structures my lessons around the goals I established on the first day. She never criticizes my voice but keeps the focus on mastering the songs I want to sing. Her warm-ups and activities are rooted in proper technique, but she never obsesses on technique, rather focusing on how to sing a particular song. She has interest in and experience with an amazing variety of genres and has helped me learn to sing songs by the Beatles as well as George Jones.

If I could give Rachel ten stars, that wouldn't be adequate for the concern and energy she's poured into my daughter for the past three or so years. At first I wasn't sure that driving almost 40 minutes every week for voice lessons would be worth it, but I would drive longer than that now for what Rachel has given her--yes, vocal training that has been amazing, but also dreams for a future in music and confidence in her abilities to achieve her goals. Rachel is always understanding, available to listen to my concerns, ready to coach or offer encouragement for an audition, and has never once had a "bad day" teaching; voice lessons are always a highlight of the week. My daughter is heading to college on a full vocal scholarship, and it's because of Rachel. I can't thank her enough.
