I went through Plaid Dog's campaign and recording process in 2022 and it remains one of my most invaluable experiences as a musician. The entire team is personable, from my campaign manager and videographer, to my producer, and the owner Mike himself. They made every stage as pleasant as possible. As long as you have a true vision or reasonably clear idea, they will meet your expectations or help allow you to set and achieve more realistic ones. They have a great network of session musicians and producers that elevated my music to an industry level quality. The studio being just outside Boston, much of the creative team are Berklee alumni, so they are the real deal and can fit any genre of music. I cannot emphasize enough how incredible my experience recording my first record at Plaid Dog was. I was nervous about trying to crowdfund, but the team truly had my back from beginning to end and made this process so wonderful- we ended up raising more than enough for our budget! As for the actual recording process, I could not have dreamed up a better experience. Max Challis, my producer and engineer, is not only an incredible artist, but an incredible guy. At every turn he was imaginative, thoughtful, kind, patient, and encouraging. For someone who was so new to this process, he took the opportunity to teach and answer my questions with care and respect, and he turned my demos into beautiful pieces that we are both incredibly proud of. I had a wonderful experience making my album at Plaid Dog Recording. From the very beginning, their team helped me stay organized and active in my crowd funding campaign which helped me raise my $10K goal in just a week. A few months later, I travelled to Boston to record my EP in just 4 days. Recording my own accordion and vocals went great thanks to mike's expertise in the recording booth. I was thrilled that the studio musicians Mike brought in were perfect for my French jazz genre, and nailed their parts and improvisations. We released "Doin' Just Fine" shortly after, and I couldn't be happier with my album! I would highly recommend working with Plaid Dog.
