I lived in Memphis for 25 years and never did this tour. I returned to Memphis for my son’s graduation and had a few extra hours to spend with my two boys and we decided to check out this incredible museum. The place where Elvis walked in as a Humes High School student and paid his own money to make a record. A room where Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and U2 recorded. It’s magical! You can feel the real ghosts of American music and it’s awesome. I’m so glad it has been preserved. The $20 entrance fee is well worth it! If you are visiting Memphis on a budget go here over Graceland. If you have won the lottery do both! Our tour guide Mark Edgar Stuart was amazing and I’ll be checking out his original music!!

If you’re a fan of classic American music, rock ‘n’ roll history, or simply great storytelling, Sun Records is an absolute treasure. It’s not just a record label — it’s the birthplace of a cultural revolution. The energy and authenticity that poured out of those early Sun sessions shaped the careers of legends like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, and so many others. When you listen to those original tracks, you can almost feel the grit of Memphis streets, the raw emotion of young artists, and the spark of something brand-new being created moment by moment. What makes Sun Records so special is its purity. There was no corporate polish or overproduction — just passion, talent, and experimentation. Sam Phillips had an incredible gift for hearing potent

Honestly, one of the BEST Museums/Tours I have ever been to. Drew, the Tour Guide is GREAT. The way Drew tells the origin story of Sun Studio and the Fun Facts he mentions about Sam Phillips, Studio Staff and the Artists that have recorded at Sun Studios is AWESOME and PRICELESS. Some of the stories you will never read about in a Book or Article. The Tour is educational and eye-opening with the Museum decorations on the walls. Music Fan or Not I HIGHLY recommend taking the Tour, bring you Family and Friends you will not be disappointed. For Me, knowing that I stood in the same space that Blues and Rock Legends once stood in before Me to record their Hit Songs is/was a ultimate HIGH !
