My son has been taking from Mike for six years and we couldn't ask for a better instructor. His knowledge of drum history and technique is deep and he has done a great job helping my son strengthen and refine his drumming skills. But he also has done a great job helping him grow as a person and individual. You won't find a better teacher.

My 9 year old son wanted to play drums for a long long time. It wasn't easy to find a drum teacher in the Salt Lake area, near our home. I looked around and asked many people before finding Mike. The people who recommended him described him as the best drum teacher in Utah. So we decided to give it a try even though his studio is not as close to where we live as we would have liked. We feel very lucky to have found Mike. My son has been studying drums with him for about 8 months now, and totally loves it! Mike is an incredible teacher, the kind your kid will remember for a lifetime. He has a thorough knowledge of music and drums, he teaches with passion and rigor, is an inspiring teacher and has a charming personality. The students love him and respect him. My 13 year-old son has been taking lessons from Mike and is absolutely loving it!! As I read through some of the other reviews, I found myself wanting to copy and paste many of the comments that others have made into my own review. Why? Because what they have said so beautifully, is true. He is a fantastic teacher and a great role model. In short, look no further... you've found the very best! Aside from being an extraordinarily talented drummer himself, Mike really is a fantastic teacher. He has the perfect personality for teaching and continually makes the lessons fun and interesting for his students.
