The Sheffield Institute for Recording Arts is a 20,000 sq ft licensed higher education institute and production studio in Phoenix, Maryland. With majors in audio works, video works and tech works. SIRA does high-end audio and video productions featuring a half of a million dollar sound board, one of only four in the country. Sheffield also offers a summer camp for high school students interested in expanding or learning new skills. My son attended the 2025 summer camp and it was the most amazing experience he could have asked for. In a week the students wrote and recorded a song. As well as produced an accompanying music video. The Sheffield has partnered with hundreds of top artists like Cold Play, Foo Fighters, Billy Joel, Mariah Carey, Aerosmith, John Mellancamp, Aretha Franklin, Gin

My son completed the Video works program. During the tour of the facility prior to signing up for the program, he was told that they would assist in helping him find a job. This was one of the reasons why he decided to attend Sheffield. He really enjoyed the program and learned a lot. However, since completing the program, he has not been able to find any jobs or internships in this field. The only thing that Sheffield said to him once he completed the program was in an email, they apologized for not doing better preparing the students for careers and assisting them with finding jobs. I am very disappointed and feel like we were deceived and lied too. Now my son is now in debt for the cost of the program and no job to show for his efforts.

Sheffield Institute for the Recording arts is a FAMILY! The previous owners, Vance Van Horn and John Ariosa definitely helped progress my career. They have new owners and I have yet to go back to see how it's been, but Studio A and B are incredible! From musicians like Rod Stewart, Aerosmith, Linkin Park, Usher, Mariah Carey, Dru Hill, Crack the Sky, etc You will not be disappointed. Teachers like Glenn Workman (A GENIUS OF HIS OWN), Drew Mazurek (Engineer for Peabody as well), Greg Hartman, ...PAT (r.i.p the best Technician I've ever known) and Jake M. are common mentors I'd recommend. Whoever is running Sheffield now, I hope it is as good as it had been. I still wonder if they allow Alumni to record on Fridays... Anyways, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
