I normally don’t write bad reviews, but my recent experience with the Guitar Center San Marcos Lessons Department needs to be shared, especially for parents considering lessons for their children. My son has been taking guitar lessons here for months and absolutely loves his instructor, Tristan. Unfortunately, the issue isn’t with the instructors, it’s with the front-end communication and customer service. After two of my credit cards were compromised, a number of auto-renew subscriptions needed updating. At no point, phone, text, or in person—did anyone from Guitar Center notify me of a declined payment, despite the Lessons Lead repeatedly claiming they “called” and “spoke to me in person.” I checked my call history. Silly as it may sound, I was honestly super nervous coming here! I feel all sheepish, being an adult who’s brand spankin’ new at the piano. But they are so welcoming and friendly here!!! Not to mention knowledgeable and patient! I’m somebody who gets reaaal antsy with large purchases, and something like a digital piano would normally be a purchase project that takes weeks to pull the trigger on. But the wonderful Joe made my decision so extraordinarily easy! I told him my nonnegotiables, my nice-to-haves, and my budget, and he helped me narrow down what felt like an overwhelming number of options to three digital pianos, all of which I got to play around with right there in the store…and my choice was made!
