My son has been taken violin/viola lessons with Sam for almost 3 years. When my son decided to switch to viola after playing violin for one season in Golden State Youth Orchestra, there was a transition period of about half year that he needed keeping practice violin for GSYO concerts and meanwhile practice viola for promoting audition. It’s quite challenging and we can’t imagine how to manage it without Sam. Eventually the transition ended very smoothly thanks for Sam’s very passionate and patient teaching. If any one wants to learn violin/viola, I highly recommend Sam, he’s a very talented teacher really understands students.

My daughter has been taking violin lessons with Sam for the past two years, starting when she was just six years old. Initially, I was uncertain if the violin was the right fit for her, but I hoped it might one day allow her to collaborate with her sister, who plays the keyboard. Under Sam’s guidance, she has not only grown into a confident young violinist but has also developed a genuine love for playing. I’m thrilled to see her pick up the violin on her own initiative, practicing with joy and dedication. Sam’s patience, enthusiasm, and unwavering encouragement have been invaluable in nurturing her passion and progress.

After my daughter decided to take on the sectional leader and camp mentor roles in her high school orchestra and Golden State Youth Orchestra, Sam’s professional advices, abundant demonstrations, and storytelling of personal experiences have helped her tremendously in thriving in those positions. Now my daughter is a first year engineering student who’s happily accepted into UCLA Symphony. Her love for music and violin didn’t stop when her private lessons with Sam ended. We are truly grateful and would rec
