Todd generously opened his studio to two of my very talented guitar students to help them record their first ever song! He was kind, supportive, put everyone at ease and helped the students get through the sticky parts of over dubbing and recording music for the first time. Aside from the project itself, Todd offered an endless stream of knowledge and information, teaching rather than just doing for the students. We all walked away with more knowledge and know-how than when we walked in. It was a great experience and we will definitely be working with Todd and Up North Studios again. 10/10 definitely recommend for musicians of all skill levels and experience. Thank you Todd!!!

Todd was collaborative and communicative throughout the recording and mixing process. He encouraged our feedback at every step to make sure we were achieving the band’s desired sound. He truly believed in the project and it showed through his work. On top of his professionalism, Todd was warm and welcoming, always making sure we had plenty of tea, coffee, and water to keep us going. Going the extra mile, he’s open and willing to share (solicited) advice for growing one’s sound, growing as a band, etc.

Todd Whitehead is excellent. He is an active learner, never afraid to educate himself about the recording process, never afraid to learn by doing. His serious attitude and professionalism I deeply respect. Beyond the general meticulousness he has that qualifies him as a good engineer, the whole of his operation reveals him to be of a higher caliber. He is receptive to the needs of each project and approaches each song of each band differently - he aims to capture the best qualities of the song, and mix and master accordingly. He does not step on toes. He has the stamina to record an entire album in one session. His studio is located in his house and the environment fosters a feeling of general contentment. AND he had the hospitality to offer us pasta. (I may have neglected to men
